Going along with an inground?

I would recommend signing a builder up in the late summer or early fall, the prices will most likely be better and you should be able to negotiate more. Also they will be able to build 95% of your pool and then just plaster and fill the following spring, that's what we did and I am so glad, our pool was plastered mid April and now it full and ready to go while alot of the other spring builds are half-way done.

Chances are the subs that build the pool won't be as busy either in the fall so you'll get more attention and if they don't show for a few days or so no big deal because you have plenty of time.

I feel your pain on the costs! When I started my search, I was seeing stuff "advertised" for about $25K here in MA but it included basically nothing when you actually sat down with them and asked questions. I ended up going with a guy who had great referrals and was more mid-tier pricing but included a lot of stuff in his "package". I did a 20x40 steel wall pool called an Oasis with heater, electic light, pool accessories, etc.. and the price was just about $35K. However, I needed to run a natural gas line to heater and some other electrical work I did above the regualr install so i was close to $40K at this point but had a pool I could swim in.

Roll forward to today and I am in the process of having several retaining walls built, the deck poured and the landscaping that will be needed which adds anohter $30K to $40K in costs. So all in, about $70K to $80K. Not exactly the "$25K can buy you an inground pool" being advertised around here! Still....it will be worth it!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think I may wait until after July 4th. Should I stop getting quotes or get the quotes then wait and start neogotiting then? Most can't even get started until last week of June, so whats another few weeks?.

Im just going to continue plugging away and see what I can find out. Two meetings are done and I have another one on Friday.
