Glass Waterline Tile Thinset Question

They are about to install my glass waterline tile tomorrow. I had asked for white thinset as after a lot of research I learned that is what was best for glass tile installation. The sub doing the work asked me or sort of suggested I might want to use gray . When I said I picked the white as that is what I understand is best for application. He said , yes you are right but I could add some notar and make it light gray you might like it better. The tile is blue and a bit translucent.

So here are my questions .

1. Is white truly what is best for application?
2. My instinct is to not have him mix a little mortar into the white thin set as it might hurt the integrity of the thinset. Is this a correct assumption?
3. For anyone that has done a glass tile waterline what color thinset did you use and why ?

I have attached a pic of my tile.

Thanks

Have your sub mix up a sample of what he suggests and put it on a board with some tile next to the standard white thinset and then you can decide.
