Hi,

I am trying to add a few lines near the pool. One for an outlet and one for landscape lighting.
Found this thread for the landscape lighting which is extremely helpful.
For the outlet, do I need to add a gfci breaker or can I add a non gfci breaker and a gfci outlet?

As long as the line originates from the GFCI you won't need another one at the termination but, the more you have on the one circuit the harder it'll be to track down the problem point when it trips out.

One or the other.
A gfci receptacle would be cheaper than the breaker. You may also take into consideration which one would be more convenient for you to get to should it trip.
Any additional outlets you may want to add could be fed off the load side of the gfci and a standard outlet used and they would have gfci protection as well.
