Just ran my first SLAM process on a greenish pool (I had neglected brushing a bit too long and yikes), and it only took two days to get crystal clear (Thanks TFP!).

Looking at my water tests today, I need to get my CYA up higher, I figure shoot for 70, my Calcium hardness up, and bring my PH down.

My FC is down to 14 (I only pushed it up to around 16.5 for the SLAM).

1) Should I wait for the FC to fall further before trying to add chemicals? I guess I'll be aiming for 70 CYA with 7 FC.

2) At what point to should I re-start my SWG? I'm thinking maybe at a low-level when we get to 10, try to ease back onto it for a soft landing?

Did you pass all 3 criteria to stop the SLAM process? Your CYA is 50 and it was stated the FC level was at 16.5ppm. For a proper SLAM it should have been at 20ppm. So before adding stabilizer to increase CYA it is important to confirm there is no algae. Did you do the Overnight Chlorine Loss Test?

Yes -- I'm sure I'm good. I didn't have the CYA up to 50, more like 40+ and I was a little timid on the FC level but it responded really quickly. I was doing the overnight readings and got to 0 loss on the 3rd night. Always negligible CC.. Never seen water this clear in my life -- swam all around with a mask and can hardly tell I'm underwater! At any rate, the FC has fallen down under 10 and I'm bringing the CYA up now, so I think I'm all set.

OK thanks for update. It is recommended that CYA rounded up so it should be 50. This is important not only for SLAM but also when you follow the FC/CYA Levels. This is how you ensure you do not every get algae. Good Luck
