Getting started! Owner Build in SoCal

Forms are going up, progress is being made. We have our wall guys here, making sure measurements are correct for the retaining walls and sitting area above the pool. At least 10 truck loads have left so far, still have way more to go!

Ok time for decisions on lights. Originally thinking 4 globrites in the pool , one on Baja and 3 in main pool, with one above bench. All on the house side. (Pool is 44’ long). Is this enough or should I go with 2 on Baja? We will have one bubbler/light on the Baja, maybe 2 if we don’t have to add another pump.
I love that this has become a wife/husband post. We’re probably confusing people ?
The rain seems to have stayed away! Some areas near us literally got snow (which is insane), but we got maybe a few sprinkles for about 5 mins. It’s very cold for Orange County, but it stayed dry!! Crew will be here first thing in the morning and I’m hoping it goes smoothly because husband (turtle101) won’t be home! ?

Lights-I think 4 will work especially since you will have a lighted bubblers. Just make sure you can turn on the light separate from the bubbler function. I am also going to ask @bdavis466 his thoughts as he is really good at this kind of thing.
LOL on the husband/wife team work-there have been a few where they share the same account. Most of the time I could tell who was posting but there were some I could not. It is no biggy and just adds to the fun! We have to be careful to not talk about the other one

FWIW, I have 2 lighted bubblers and one globerite on our (9x17) shelf. Turns out, it's a bit of overkill. The bubbler lights are synced in with the rest of the pool lights, regardless if the bubbler is actually in use or not. Essentially, they are 2 additional pool lights. Had I known that the bubbler lights would illuminate the shelf so well, I would have used that globerite somewhere else in the pool or just eliminated it. It wasn't really needed. Even when the bubbler lights are somewhat diffused by the bubbling action, the shelf would still be nicely illuminated without the globerite.

This is where I would put the lights: Use lighted bubblers on the shelf, and 2 globerites as shown in the picture. On the spill overs, use LED strip lighting.
PS. At the firepit area, I would keep that at patio level - so, you will be more at eye-level with the people in the SPA, when you are sitting at the firepit. That way, the edge of the SPA could also double as seating....

I read your Nov post in the past. From what I understood was the Micro are more universal sized and slightly less bright. My goal is the ability to have a well lite pool at night since we have 5 kids , want to make sure no shadows in the corners.
I assume the Micro will work fine in the Intelli system? I might consider just a bubbler without the light and just have the light on the wall instead.
Thanks for the input. Do you think this will light up the entire pool. I want to make sure the deep end is well covered, especially with so many kids that will be using the pool.
Do you have any details on adding the lights to the water falls. We ordered the Bobé Water features and they are very well constructed and welded together.
You can't have too much light in the pool and you can always turn a light or two off if you want...

I’m sure they will have something silmilar to this....I have a micro on my Baja shelf, and it’s bright...will post a pick tomorrow.

So, our timeline got incredibly screwed up. Our excavator was supposed to come back Friday (one of our few sunny days), and cancelled that morning (after I bought a couple dozen donuts and Starbucks for the crew). Then he called and canceled Saturday. I’m so angry. He promised to come Monday, but our timeline is SO tight now. If shotcrete can’t come Friday, we have to pay more for Saturday. And if we wait for Monday, we are changing having rain. Forecast calls for possible rain Sunday and Monday.
This is so disappointing. Our wall guys who have also been very reliable didn’t work on it this last week and lord, I’m realizing how quickly things can go south. Our plumber, electrician, steel, and Shotcrete have all been great with communication and have worked with people we know. So fingers crossed it gets better once excavator is done. And fingers crossed he comes tomorrow. He left equipment in the hole and at the entrance of the yard. So even if we wanted to hire someone else, we would have to get him to show up and take his stuff.

I have a BIG mad for you!!!!! GURRRR unreal and so disappointed that he would do this.
Some updates:
Excavator cancelled (wasting nice sunny days and pushing us closer to rain) on Friday and Saturday. He showed up Monday and almost finished, but he had to come back Tuesday morning to finish the side of the house a little and pack up his equipment.
Tuesday afternoon our rebar company told us they couldn’t make it. So we scrambled and found another company, when they arrived Tuesday morning they quickly realized the excavator hadn’t dug deep enough for the double curtain bottom and the sides were slipped too much. Not shocking, my excavator didn’t show up that morning. So the rebar company dug by hand (such an awesome crew).
Wednesday the rebar company came back to finish and plumbing showed up. I guess I never realized how much plumbing does! Would explain why it costs so much money. Our plumber is awesome with a large crew and went over everything with us again. We ended up with about 12 jets in the jacuzzi, 2 bubblers on the Baja shelf, 1 light in the jacuzzi, 1 light in the Baja area, 3 lights in the pool, we have 3 18 inch cooper scuppers on the raised bond beam, and a 3 ft radius curved cooper scupper on the rounded area of the pool. We made sure to have him add an electrical box closer to the pool for our future robot cleaner. And then we upgraded our pumps and equipment (he’s working on the revised list of equipment. When I get that I will post it).
Today is Thursday and plumbing is headed back. We were hoping for an afternoon inspection but plumbing said they will be working into the later afternoon to finish up. So inspection is scheduled for Friday morning. Our shotcrete guy unfortunately booked another job for Friday (understandable since we weren’t 100%), but now we have an 80% chance of rain on Saturday. We have to call him todsybas we get closer to being completed and touch base on our options. We may just pay extra and have him come Friday afternoon and light coat the pool. At this point, we don’t want all the work and money we’ve spent ruined with rain.
Fingers crossed it all comes together because it has been a super stressful week. Will try and post pics in follow up.

What an awesome update! SO much done! I would ask for a flash finish to be on the safe side!!!!
