Getting ready for Helene

Thanks for the link. This is exactly what I was looking for. We do have an overflow drain in our new pool (it appears to be at least a 2" pipe) but we've never been through a storm like this here in metro Atlanta. My wife thinks we should pickup a pump just in case. I've got one of these waiting for me at Home Depot but still not sure that I need it: Everbilt 1/4 HP 2-in-1 Submersible Utility and Transfer Pump UTA02510 - The Home Depot

Thoughts?

I would want a larger pump like the 1.6 HP that's $83 on Amazon. But you probably can't get it in time. Get them both and then return the home depot one when you didn't need it.

I had a 1/3 HP pump and it was slooooooooooow.

Yeah I realize this is pretty slow but there's not much to choose from as you can imagine! Maybe I'll pick this one up and leave it boxed so I can return it if we don't use it.

I have this pump and it works really well for me. Noted my pool is much smaller than yours, but I can lower my 18' over 2" in about an hour. I would purchase and keep in box just have in case you need it.

I lowered mine to just above the bottom of the skimmer. With the amount of rain coming, it should go above the top of it by the time the storm moves out and I will drain some after

Instead of picking up this pump I decided to instead focus on getting a generator to ensure we can maintain power so I ran out of time and didn’t pick it up. However, so far our overflow drain has worked great even with all this rain (still coming down now). I’ll probably get a pump later but I’ll look at the other options on Amazon and I saw several at Harbor Freight as well.
