...within the next 3-4 weeks (I hope). Water temp is ready for me to swim. Water is clear, pool is clean, chemistry is...iffy, as in low/no levels of anything because I just opened. I don't want to do any more than I must to water I'm soon dumping.

1. Is there any reason to care about anything but the chlorine level for me and the pool plumbing to be safe? And if so, what?
2. Replacing 23,000 gallons will take 3+days. Do I wait until the pump is back on before adding chlorine? I have cal-hypo powder and 12.5% liquid chlorine on hand, but I thought I'd go with tabs just this once for the stabilizer.

Any other thoughts, suggestions are welcome.

Hey! Congrats on new liner.

1. As far as worrying about yourself, chlorine isn't the only important aspect of pool chemistry. I'd keep you pH in a recommended range so as not to irritate your eyes. If you have copper in pool it can turn your hair green. I think it best to keep all your levels at safe, recommended ranges even if you are going to dump water in a few weeks.

2. You can add chlorine if you have to with the pump off, although it's not ideal. I had to do it once. Keep the water circulating through ways like using your vacuum, brushing, etc. I'd use liquid chlorine, that way you know what you are putting in your pool. It's going to expire anyway, so use it.

I think it is safest to keep your pool at recommended levels even if that means dumping the water when your liner comes in.
