Got this and this is its first season. It's a higher HP rating than the old Hayward unit I had. Initially it seemed quite powerful and when we replaced the water at the start of the year, pulled all of the water out. Now when it's filtering the water, I can barely feel any pressure on the outlet end. Even plugging the outlet completely with my finger results in pressure at the valve meter of just 5 PSI. Without that the pressure is 0. Recirculate mode improves the pressure outlet marginally.
I checked the plumbing and saw no leaks anywhere (that I could see). Is there anything I can try? The old "weaker" Hayward unit was pumping water out like a cannon even in its final year of service using equal or worse plumbing. Also I am noticing that the sand filter often ends up full of air (air is emptied via the top screw).
The skimmer end seems to always be quite full of water so it doesn't seem to be a suction bottleneck.
I'm noticing that the pump's plastic filter attachment is only half full of water at all times.
