Generator Installed Backwards

Upon cleaning my salt, water generator recently, I discovered that it was installed backwards. The water is flowing the opposite direction of the arrows. Does this actually matter?

Actually, yes, I believe so. It may effect the flow switch. Is it producing chlorine? I think you can just lift it out and reverse the innards though right?

Not sure how to tell if it is producing chlorine, but I think it is?

It actually won’t allow you to place it in the opposite way. It only fits one way.

NOTE If the flow direction of the water does not match the arrows on the housing, the cell will malfunction.

It does not, so will just have to cut the pipe and flip it and use couplings to fix I suppose!

Can you take a wider shot? Do you have room to put a union on each side of it? If so, get 4 unions and another piece of PVC pipe. This way you can make a winterizing spool.

It looks approximately the same either way.

So, I don't really see what the problem is with it being reversed.

However, Jandy says that it matters, so I would go by what they say.

Maybe contact Jandy and ask them why it matters.

Actually I think Jandy sells a winterizing cap for this one. No real need for the unions to go in. Just splice it in with a coupler.
