Gas Heater - Can I use flex hose?

I am adding a Natural Gas heater to my above ground pool this year.

Am I able to use flex hose when connecting the heater to my filter and pool? Or do I need to use rigid pipe?

I couldn't find a reference to this in the manual at all.

Please do NOT use flex pipe. Only use rigid pipe.

Would you mind explaining why not? Rigid pipe doesn't seem as user-friendly to me, especially in the winter when I have to tear everything down and take it inside.
