Freezing weather starting to subside, now I have a pressure issue

Now that the cold snap has come to an end (in the 40's today, water temp is still at 33 deg, rising slowly) , I just removed the tarp from the pool equipment to let it et some much needed sun and noticed that the pressure on the filter (Titan II Sand) is very high, like at 38 PSI)..My normal range is about 15-18. Not sure what to do here.. Water flow to the pool and spa seem "ok", a little less, but I am not running pump at normal speeds..

One thought I had is that there is frozen water in the in filter.. Would running the heater in the SPA help alleviate the pressure issue?

Any guidance would be appreciated..

If water flow is ok have patience and let things warm up naturally and see how things go.

Does the gauge go to zero when the pump is off?

Probably a bad gauge from freezing.

Replace the gauge.

38 psi is about 88 feet of water, which is not possible unless the pump is running full speed.

If the pump is not running at full speed, the gauge is definitely bad.

The gauge is damaged.

Just replace the gauge.

Turn the pump off and subtract the reading from the on pressure.

For example, if the off pressure is 20 psi, the actual pressure is 38 - 20 = 18 psi.

Also, just did a quick check.. if I shut off the pump, the gauge drops to about 20PSI, so it is moving, not frozen.. Possible frozen water in filter? Woudl running the heater for a few hours help?

Boom spot on.. 20 PSI when off..

If we estimate the actual pressure at 18 psi plus 4 psi for the suction, the flow is about 60 to 80 gpm.
