With that much chlorine loss, I still think you have algae.

At a minimum, do an overnight chlorine loss test. Link-->Overnight Chlorine Loss Test
You fail, replace 30% of your water, and follow the SLAM process. Link-->SLAM Process

i am relacing 30% as we speak. once I have the CYA in check I will slam the pool! thank you for your help
