So I’ve been doing well for the last year with my self pool maintenance up until today. Today I went to unscrew my salt cell for inspection and the PVC threader thing on the PVC pipe cracked so now it cannot screw on the salt cell. So I can’t use my filter or salt cell for several days until the repair guys come out to fix.

I’m driving myself nuts because my pool has been in perfect balance until now.

My questions are what to do if my filter is going to be off for several days. My thought is to pour bleach in the pool to get my chlorine levels up and circulate by “stirring” it around with the skimmer pole.

My last set of readings before this all started:

FC 1.0
CC 0
Ph 7.4
TA 70
CH 250
CYA 90

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Your thought is correct. Maintain your FC at 10 using LC and stir it with your pole. And you can run your Dolphin to mix the water.

Ok - added 2 jugs of LC yesterday. Got FC up to 9.6. Feeling better. Will keep adding LC till salt cell back running. Thanks for input

So pool company says they will be out this week to repair the PVC line. I will keep adding liquid chlorine until then. What about if the Ph starts to rise. Is it safe to add a bit of diluted muriatic acid without the pump running?

So I’m getting some repairs on my PVC pipe this week and my pump and filter may be off for a few more days. It’s day 3 today without water filtering.

I’m adding liquid chlorine nightly and “stirring” briskly while I let my dolphin vaccuum push the water around. Trying to keep nightly FC at 10.0.

My concern, if it still another few days until I can filter, I’m thinking the Ph will start to rise from the liquid chlorine.

So my question now is, if the ph goes above 8, can I add diluted muriatic acid and brush vigorously without the pump running. The robo vaccuum will also move it around a bit.

Or, do I just take chances and let things go knowing I will have to SLAM when the filter gets back in operation.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Last readings 2 days ago before pump was down:

FC 1.0 - now up to 10 with liquid bleach
Cc 0
Ph 7.4
TA 70
CH 250
CYA 90 (a bit high but suspect moving down - recent rain and water splashed out

Don't worry about your pH. It can't rise enough in a week to be a problem. Just keep your FC up and algae at bay.
