I just wanted to give a big thumbs up for Frankenplugs for solving pool leaks in returns. (https://www.amazon.com/s?k=frankenplug&crid=1VV61J9Y6W1AR&sprefix=frankenplug,aps,75&ref=nb_sb_noss_2)

My fiberglass pool had been losing about an 1" every other day all summer. I bought a leak detection kit (syringe and ink) and tested all my openings and I was able to isolate it to one of the returns. I shut that return off in the pump house and installed a plug in the return and was able to confirm that the leak was somewhere in that system. I looked into a number of solutions to try and fix it including a liquid called fix a leak as well as companies that shoot an epoxy through that return line to seal the leak. I called one company that was certified for doing these epoxy repairs and the person who I talked to about it told me that he has seen a lot of leaks in pools and from what he has seen the issue is almost always a crack in the area of one of the threads in the return where you screw in the return eyelet. I purchased a Frankenplug and installed it in that return and PROBLEM SOLVED! I ended up using the Frankenplug mini. They are very easy to install work like a champ if your issue is near the opening are of the return.

Yes, they can be very helpful. My experience is below. Just remember, the true fix is to eventually get in there and replace the broken hardware. I used the FP for about a year before finally dong the work.
