Hi Folks!
I'm about to install a Stenner pump for daily bleach dosing. I bought a 110V fixed pump and I'm going to use a timer to manage the dose and keep the time synchronized to ensure it doses while the main pump is running.
I've read some folks buying WiOn wifi controlled timers or the like, which sounds pretty darned handy. However, I'm not about to rely on my wifi router maintaining signal 24/7 to keep my pool sanitized especially if i leave town and it fails to reconnect after a power glitch, etc.. I'm not comfortable with that at all, as I know exactly what would happen -- i would not pay attention for a few days (enjoying the new found laziness of auto dosing w/ the Stenner) and FC==0, oops .. BUT as I would sure love to be able to whip out my phone and update the dosage.
Has anyone come across a solution for this? I'm not sure why they don't make an timer switch which keeps time LOCALLY at the unit, but allows configuration updates via WIFI while NOT relying solely on the on/off commands actually coming over wifi. It seems like such an OBVIOUS feature, yet all the ones I find out there seem to rely on the time keeping running on the host and not local to the timer.
PLEASE let me know if someone has found a solution like that on the market. otherwise i'll pick up a cheap digital timer and just walk over and punch the buttons when I need to update.
Thanks!!
Greg
