Hi Everyone,
I am planning on installing my new SWG this weekend (CircuPool RJ-60 Plus), and I am trying to figure out the best way to plumb everything in. I have an attached spillover Spa with a pretty simple plumbing setup. The filter output goes to a 3-way Jandy valve and sends water to the pool, spa, or both. It looks just like the diagram below (minus the Ozone generator). There is no spa bypass, and no extra "pool" return that goes to the spa. In order to filter the spa water, I just leave the Jandy set to let a little bit of water flow to the Spa at all times, and a little water flows over the spillover at all times. I do not have any automation, so I have to manually set everything.
I was reviewing the RJ's manual, and was originally planned on installing the Flow Switch and SWG like option 1, but had never thought about option 2, which puts the flow switch after the pool/spa valve on the pool side. This seems like a good idea because you would never have to worry about accidentally over-chlorinating the spa when in "spa mode", but this means you would also not have the option to run the SWG at all in spa mode....which seems like it could get a little gross if you are using the spa for several hours and have several people in it. We also sometimes like to sit in the spa without it heated sometimes in the summer to enjoy the spa jets. When we do this, I send all of the return water to the spa, but all of the suction is set to come from the pool in an effort to keep things circulating, and all of the water just flows over the spillover. I feel like it would be good to be able to produce chlorine in this scenario as well.
Thoughts?
