How do I know what size floor cleaner basket I need. I had a stainless basket that broke and looking to replace it. I’ve looked online and there are millions.

Where do I start ?

It’s the longer basket before the pump.

Can you post pictures of the floor cleaner basket, and the piece of equipment you are describing?
Are there any numbers that embossed/labelled on the parts of the basket, or the equipment the basket is in?

That appears to be the old style LeafVac from A&A Manufacturing.
I've never seen one with a stainless basket. Any idea how old the pool is?
After the step for the basket to rest on, are the sides straight or tapered to the bottom?

You may be able to find better prices by shopping around.

The issue many have with the old style housing is that the ears that snug the lid down crack and can't be repaired. The newer style housing is made of a more forgiving ,material than the PVC of the original one.

The pool is 20 years old. But we have lived here for 5. The housing is straight, no tapering.

The metal basket is rolled, being attached to the/ spot welded in one area. We were gone for a week and had a big wind storm which landed our entire neighbors trees leaves in the pool. Over filled the basket, with the pressure busting the seam on the basket.

Honestly probably could put a zip tie around it and would hold it together but kinda want to get rid of the metal as you can see staining.

Your first two images look exactly like my A&A LeafVac that was installed in 1999. It originally had a blue mesh bag, which lasted 10+ years and was replaced with the plastic basket I linked above. The plastic basket is much easier to empty than the mesh bag was.

Your SS basket looks home grown. It may be possible to have someone weld it to make it servicable.

Be careful not to over-tighten the lid or else you will be replacing the entire unit.
Does your pool have an IFCS? What brand?

Seems like AA manufacturing for sure, as that is what is used in the entire pool by Shashta pools back in 2000's.
