Flooded Ground Under Pool

We experienced pool failure during a big rain storm. We were in the process of changing the liner, but weren’t able to finish installing it on time. We currently have sand on the bottom which is now soaked. The pool is 1/3 in the ground and 2/3 above the ground. There’s 2” of water on top of the tarp that covers the sand bottom and we’ll pump it out. I was told that because of all the water that has now sipped into the ground and under the pool, we wouldn’t be able to install a new one until after the ground settles and completely dries out which will take months or more likely a year. Is that true? How soon can we install a new pool? Are there any alternatives to safely and soundly install a new pool soon? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to TFP! Is this a DIY project or is someone installing it for you? Did anyone entertain a substitute base other than sand?
Thank you!
It’s a DIY project. We’ve had the pool in place for many years with a sand base and never had issues, but we’ve never had flooding like this either. We disassembled it to replace the liner, but it was bad timing and this happened. We would definitely entertain a substitute base of it means we could get back to a working pool. 😊

While u have things down - now is the time to add drainage around the pool so water drains around & away from the pool area. This should also include diverting water from any gutters on your house that drain towards the pool area. You don’t wanna go through all that work & have it happen again.
Hard to tell from the pics but is your house a higher elevation than your pool?

If u have some dry weather coming- pump out & uncover the base so u can get it drying out - adding drainage to the area should only help this process as currently u just have a large hole that will remain wet.
Only time will tell how long that will take.
