This is my first full season with the pool and I just got a K-2006c kit.

the kit is a little intimidating. Here are my readings so far...

pH is reading about 7.6
Free chlorine at about 1.2ppm
CYA did not register at all

I assume the low free chlorine being low might be a result of no CYA?

What else should I be testing for?

Great start. Not unusual for you in the NE to have low CYA when you open due to draining down the pool for winterizing and then it being refilled by snow and rain.
Plan to get 30 ppm of CYA in the water (use the sock method) and raise your FC to follow FC/CYA Levels target range for that CYA.

Should I turn up my SWCG or will the FC raise naturally as I run my pool - as I just opened the pool (salt was low so had to add two bags).

Raise your FC using liquid chlorine. You will need to test the salinity of the water using your salt test kit (do you have one?). Once the salinity is in the proper range and your FC is in the target range use your SWCG to maintain the FC level.

Once you are sure the pool is clear and no algae, raise your CYA to 60-70 ppm.

OK -- once you get the FC up then start the SWCG. Set it to generate about 2 ppm of FC per day and see how that holds.

Depending on what the shallow end depth that should be close.

Use PoolMath

6 pounds of dry stabilizer for 30 ppm CYA.
A gallon of 10% liquid chlorine will add 4 ppm FC.
