Just completed our first full water check after completing the SLAM process for the first time. I have attached the results below.
It is recommending 79 pounds of calcium chloride. Does this sound correct or normal after a SLAM? We also dumped 3/4 of our pool water because of high CYA before doing the SLAM.
Thank you!

It would be wise to raise your CH into the mid to upper 200's ppm.

What is the CH of your fill water? Do you use fill water to make up for evaporation?

My CH level from my test yesterday was 190. My pool math app is saying to put 79 lbs of calcium chloride in the pool. Thus far I have not used fill water (water from the outside house faucet right?) to make up for the evaporation.

Pool math is a calculator. You control what target level to put in it.

Put 300 ppm CH in the calculator. Add the amount of calcium chloride it says.

Thanks! Two things:
First when testing with the test kit for CH, the test says to add the chemical and then swirl, it will turn red. I found that “swirling” would not turn it red, it remained blue at the bottom of the vial. When I capped it and gave a small shake, the water turned red, the rest of the test went as described.

Second, 300 as a target yielded about 35 pounds of CH to add, which just seemed like a lot, but we have not corrected for CH in the past, so we will do that.

Also, we did just recently dilute the pool prior to the slam (CyA was excessive, so 3/4 pool drained). We have not tested the city water from the tap/hose to see what the CH is. But I’m guessing it isn’t much. Yes, we have a fill valve with a float that keeps the pool topped off with city water to account for evaporation or backwashes.
