Hello,
I am on day 2 of SLAM and have a few questions.
1. This is my first pool season - the previous owner left me quite a bit of BioGuard Burnout 73 (73% calcium hypochlorite). I have already put in 20+ gallons of liquid chlorine to keep FC levels where they need to be and was wondering if I could dissolve the BioGuard Burnout and use it to keep FC levels high? The pool water is very clear and I don't want to risk ruining the progress that has been made, but would like to try to use some of the leftover pool chemicals if possible.
2. I vacuumed the pool on day 1 and am brushing as often as I can. About every 30 minutes or so, there is a sand like substance that accumulates at the bottom of the pool which I brush up and it disintegrates. I assume this is some type of algae? Based on how quickly the FC levels are still dropping, I may have a ways to go yet in the SLAM, but is it reasonable to expect that at the end the algae will stop accumulating at the bottom of the pool, or is this something that will always happen no matter how well the pool water is maintained?
Thanks!
