First Time Drain

I will be draining my pool for the first time. I read the draining section on the Wiki on here and based on what was available to purchase I was leaning towards the Superior Pump. https://www.amazon.com/Superior-Pump-91250-Thermoplastic-Submersible/dp/B000X05G1A/ref=sr_1_1?th=1
My question is about a hose. I will need about 150' hose. I see that garden hoses work fine, can I buy one of those flexible no kink ones that shrink up? Or will that not work?

It probably won't have the PSI to unravel the stretch hose. Upgrade to the 1/3 Hp pump as they take TIME to drain the full pool. Or consider renting a commercial pump from Home Depot (etc) to be done in an afternoon.

Your long hose will be the weak link here if you buy a submersible. I hacked mine using 1 inch sprinkler pipe for much better flow, seen here.

Those flexible no kink hoses that shrink up have a smaller inside diameter then regular hoses and will have a lower flow rate. A garden hose already chokes down a pump and lowers the flow rate and increases the pump time to drain the pool.

It will work but not well.

Ok thanks. So would a standard 150' garden hose work with a 1/3hp pump? I have a drain cap in my font yard that I would drain into, but it is about 130 feet away.
