First test with TF-100

Well, I did it. Just got my kit delivered today and I gave it a shot..Easy to follow instructions and here are my results:

Chlorine 0.5
CC 0.5
TC 1.0
CH 350
TA 100
CYA 50
pH 7.5

Pool came with a Frog... I know... But I'm using it for now so my chlorine is supposed to be low.
Other than that, everything looks pretty good.

Nice work! FC below minimum for your CYA is a recipe for an unsanitary pool. [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]

The Frog does not mean that the chlorine is supposed to be low. Their claims are that you're allowed to use a lower FC level. However tfp would disregard that advice and maintain the proper FC levels depending on your cya level

Second test with TF-100

I did another test. here are the results side by side with last week's numbers

Chlorine 0.5 2.5
CC 0.5 0.5
TC 1.0 3.0
CH 350 350
TA 100 100
CYA 50 45
pH 7.5 7.2

I did bump up my chlorine a bit. That seems to be better, but my pH is getting lower. Still in the ok range, but getting close to needing attention.

The kit works great. Way better than just my old chlorine/pH kit.

Here's a question. I did use the daily Chlorine/pH kit (contained in the TF-100) first and got a chlorine level of 5. Then using the more involved chlorine test in the TH-100 kit I got a number of 2.5. Could the quickie test be that far off? Or is there enough possible error on both tests the explain the difference.

Yes, the yellow OTO test is not all that accurate. The FAS/DPD test is the most accurate. Be sure to maintain your chlorine phased on your CYA and the [FC/CYA][/FC/CYA]. More here, ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry
