First Test Middle Ga

Hello all,

We have been on this site for 4 months. Our pool was completed last November and the pool builder had us put just chlorine and muriatic acid in: Here are our readings from the TFP test kit that came in this Wednesday:

Daily Test:
pH: 7.5
Cl: 5 ppm dark yellow (over the maximum 5 ppm reading)

Total Chlorine: Free Chlorine 8.5 ppm + CC of 0.0 ppm
Calcium Hardness: 225 ppm
Total Alkalinity: 40ppm
CYA: 60

What needs to be done?? Newbie needs guidance!!!!

I do have a heater for the spa.

Well, your PB put in CYA too!
Looks ok except you state your TC is much higher than your FC so you have a CC of 3.5ppm? If true, not good. Check your testing. Only use your FAS-DPD test for FC.

Also, your TA is on the low side. Probably over aggressive on MA adds.
What is your fill water TA and CH?

How are you chlorinating? Appears to be pucks. You cannot use Trichlor for continuous maintenance.
