First fill jitters

I 'should' be excited to finally drop a hose into the new AGP but I'm finding myself nervously triple thinking every detail of the process so far. I think because for me, this is a LOT of water I'm about to contain and the pool seems pretty massive. The last few days I've been thinking about others I've seen that just throw caution to the wind, put thier pools on grass, on uneven surfaces, no drop cloths, only "visually" level but actually not level etc and tey all seem to be fine but you show a guy ONE YouTube video of the side of an AGP slitting and the tsunami that takes out eighteen feet of fencing and it's hard. for a guy like me to just throw the hose over the side and fill.

So my site was shoveled down flat and level. The perimeter was leveled to within 1/2" at worst. Each foot pad for the U shaped legs is level and flush with the foam underlay and each pad is as close to level with it's adjacent neighbours as I could get things - within 1/4".

The only things that make me hesitate are:
- the foot pads are made of two 15" lengths of 2X10 pressure treated wood, set perpendicular to the legs so the grain is running in the strong direction however these two boards are not physically attached to each other. Should they be? I have 3/4" plywood "straps" each 3.5" wide X 19" long cut but hesitated putting them on because A) the one 'under' the pool - the tab that comes out from underneath where the legs pocket in would have to go up and over this board and would then rub. Also, this would effectively alter the distance from the edge of the pool to the extreme end of that sleeve...not by a ton but a little. And B) I didn't want to put the outermost on for fear that when I fill the pool the bottom of that leg needs to slide out past where I put it and would thereby create an issue.

Can I strap them together after the pool is filled? and then if I use washers or something, can I put the inner strap OVER the leg support tab?

IMO people should start out with the round pools for a couple years before moving on to the rectangle pools. They seem to involve a lot more challenge w/ setup where I feel like experience from the round pools would help, especially w/ ground prep.

Yes, I agree. ESPECIALLY the ground prep. This is the sixth pool? I've had a hand in setting up in my lifetime but the first rectangular one and the process of levelling a round pool seems so so so much easier to me than the giant rectangle was. A smaller rectangle would be okay to start with - like the 8 X 16's.....primarily because 8' and 16' lumber is pretty easy to get your hands on and each respectively will level fully one end of the pool or one side of the pool to the other.
