First Bot on the way

I ordered a Dolphin Active 30i from Marina Pool Spa & Patio it should be here Saturday. I have a question on plumbing:
I want to keep the booster pump in the plumbing if I have a problem with the bot I’ll still have the old cleaner to use. I do notice even when the booster is not on you still get flow to the cleaner while the booster pump is off. Is this a problem or should I consider it just another jet? I could plumb a valve on the suction side? Not sure if looping the intake and output lines together would be a good idea? kind of what it is now.

It is natural for flow to go through the pressure operated cleaner when the booster pump is off. There is no reason to try to cap it. It is such a small flow it really won't affect anything. Some members have used that port to install a sprayer to cool the pool water by using the booster pump. I say just remove your pressure cleaner and see how the new robot does. Good Luck

You both have described my "setup" to a T. Just went from 12 yrs. of pressure side cleaner to a robot (Warrior SE). I don't have a booster pump, but there is a separate valve control for that return. I use it as @HermanTX
mentions, with a pool fountain/sprayer to cool the pool in the summer. In the fall and spring I use the return to connect a PoolSkim for times of heavier tree debris. Plan to use my old Jandy RayVac cleaner for long vacations and will drop the robot in as soon as I return. Gives you some versatility so adding the valve might be worthwhile.

I cut mine off and used that return to add water to the pool. Instead of running a hose across the deck I just leave a hose inside the pvc
My Polaris used pump pressure so had a normal 1-1/2 pvc. Thought about adding a sprinkler valve and automating it
