Filter Pressure higher after heat pump install

Good morning....I recently installed an UltraTemp 140. I have a Pentair Sand Dollar Filter. I noticed after install that my pressure was close to 20 and just chalked it up to needing a backwash. Typically after a backwash I am in the 11 range. I just backwashed and am still hovering around 15-16. Would the heat pump cause the normal pressure to elevate 4-5 psi?

S,

Yep!!! Your filter pressure is really the amount of effort it takes to force water through the filter and all of the return plumbing... Anything that restricts the flow, will make the filter pressure go up.

So adding a heater will make your "clean" pressure go up..

Thanks,

Jim R.

S,

We recommend that you backwash whenever your filter pressure increases by about 25 to 30% over your clean pressure.

That recommendation is pretty generic and is just a guideline... Do whatever works best for you.

Thanks,

Jim R.
