I just opened my pool and noticed that my Hayward DE filter is losing all of its pressure after a few hours of running. I can see air accumulating in the pump lid, but everything appears to be working fine (return jet has expected water flowing. I had a new pool service open the pool for me. Is it possible something was not done correctly allowing air to get in somehow? I checked and cleaned the baskets, nothing visible in the impeller area, performed a backwash and added new DE powder. Anything else I can check before calling them back out?

Can you provide some additional details? What was the starting pressure of the filter and what did it drop to?
Is the pump basket half full of water - more or less? It appears to be a suction side air leak.
What did they do when opened the pool to check for proper flow and no air leaks?
You may want to check the drain plugs on the pump (there are 2) to ensure they are tight.
You could also post photos of your suction side plumbing and pump and filter.

Thanks. Pressure starts around 12 and eventually goes to zero. While at zero, the pump basket is about half full with water. Im not sure the pool service did anything to check for leaks, following up with them. I can provide pictures later tonight.

My assumption is the 12 psi lowering to zero is at the same pump speed setting. A lower speed will reduce the pressure in the filter - so you have to measure pressure as the same speed.
I would first check the 2 drain plugs that are on the pump. Usually at the bottom of the pump basket and other is bottom of the impeller housing. Back off a half turn or so then tighten turning to the right.
The photo will help show other areas to consider for an air leak.

It was a loose drain plug. It’s holding pressure now. Thanks all!
