Filter leaking?

Just had a new pump installed but before I did, I cleaned the cartridge and put it back in.... For some reason it didn't feel right going back in, like I had to force it some more and it feels like not quite right when I attempt to reinstall, and now it's leaking

Leak is more like a slow drip

A separate or related issue is that I don't see water coming out of the jets in the pool

Here is a pic of the plumbing configuration

Gex,

The intake valves seem to be set ok, what about your return valves position?

I'd want to take the filter apart and see what it going on... How about a picture of the filter... or at least who makes the filter and what size is it??

I see in your first pic where it appears the filter output just goes right into the ground without any valves. So the question would be why do you not have water coming out of your pool eyeballs (Jets)..?????

You should use some type of Silicone Lubricating Grease on the O-Ring. Not sure if Home Depot sells it or not.. It is about the only thing I buy at the pool store.

Do you have the manual for this filter? The online manual shows where to install the O-Ring and makes a note to show where NOT to install the O-Ring.

If the filter has a pressure gage on the top, what pressure does it read when the pump is running? If the filter has an air relief, open it with the pump running and see if water comes shooting out..

Thanks,

Jim R.

No manual for the filter, it is really old, I haven't changed the position of the o ring, since I had never taken it out

Pressure is correct at 10psi (same as before I mean), water does come shooting out when the air relief valve is open

Pool pump was not running for the past two days and we had overnight temps of about 26 and 28 in South East Las Vegas, I'm hoping that's not a contributing factor to no water coming out of the eyeballs

I haven't checked it with my hands though, as previously you could easily see a strong stream.... New pump is same horsepower

I can see water going through the leaf skimmer at the pool, and also the one attached to the pump

Gex,

Well, if water shoots out of the relief valve, that should mean the pump is working, at least somewhat.. So, if nothing is coming out of the eyeballs, it could be that something in the filter is frozen, but that should not last too long.

Try it again and confirm if you have good flow out of the eyeballs or not...

No matter what, I'd want to know why you had a hard time putting the filter back to together. I'd take it apart and check it again.

jets are working, i guess it may have been a change caused by: either the new pump, the cold weather, or the eyes are all pointing down?... i did the hand test and i felt a strong stream... just couldn't see the stream like it was before

removed the o-ring from the filter, cleaned it with a wet rag and lots of black gunk/grease came off.... i then used new o-ring lube (found it at lowes) and i could put it all back together much easier... couldn't see any leaks, except tiny droplets forming out of the air relief valve, but that's a matter for tomorrow day time
