People,

have a Hayward cartrige filter type housing, model C1200, and the top part gets screwed down with a large O ring sealing it to the bottom half. But somehow it seats lopsided. I was careful about screwing the handle down, even reset it again, but it sits/seats lopsided no matter what.

I inspected the o ring and looks fine-no flat surfaces, no stretched sections, no nothing. Any idea if I am missing something? With pump runnng t leaks all over , around the o ring, mostly on about 1/2 of the circumference.

Ever see a lopsided sealing top section?

Thanks, people

Hello and welcome! I have the same filter. Some key things to watch for:
- Make sure the center supporting rod is screwed-down all the way into the base. The rod should be relatively straight.
- Put some pool silicone lube on the thread of that rod at the top.
- Also make sure you have some lube on the large O-ring that separates the top & bottom.
- Inspect the under-side of the upper half. The guide dome and as much as you can see. You may need a flashlight to see into the hole that goes to the knob. Make sure there are no obstructions.
- Once you center the top half over the rod and bottom base, stabilize it as you turn the knob.
The two should meet and the top should sit level on the bottom half.

I'll put a link to my filter maintenance below. Hope that helps.
