Filter best for Iron?

I moved and am in the process of building a new pool.

We have a home salt water softener system installed. I change the sediment filter out monthly. The water in the filters housing look like cherry Kool-Aid when I change it. I worry If I get a 60sq ft cartridge pool filter that this will also be the case and the cherry water could even get into the pool if a filter rips.

Does anyone have any personal experience in water with excess iron?

Hi duraleigh,
This is for a new pool build coming soon, so I do not have any results. I was just hoping for some advice so that I can pick the appropriate filter (de or cartridge).
