Filling in an old drain in spa

I haven't seen anything related enough. This is round two on this pool, we were able to use it last year, now I want to fix things up a bit more. We have a leak in the spa, I thought is was an old jet line, but that is filled and there is an open drain, this drain goes into the pool house where someone replaced some pvc a while ago. In the pool house, the connected pipe is noted "SPA MD" do the main drain, yeah. The spa will drain, using the other line.

I am assuming there was a leak in the original drain, the new one was added, maybe the old drain was plugged, maybe not. This pool wasn't cleaned for 7-9 years when we bought the place.

I am down to filling in the old drain with water-proof cement, painting the cement, and hoping this takes care of the issue. To me, logically, I am blocking a pipe to nowhere.

Anything else to consider? TIA!
