Fill in my pool with dirt

My pool is over 30 years old and I’m 74. I need to fill it in. It has a vinyl liner with a vermiculite bottom. It’s 22’x44’ concrete walk all around. I want to keep the walk. Can I just remove the liner and fill the rest in with dirt? Or do I need to remove the side walls also?

Does your jurisdiction have any regulations in how a pool needs to be filled in?

Ohio has no laws WRT residential pools, left up to the counties.
Columbiana County has only minimal pool code, and only WRT construction.

If you do as you are describing, it may scare off potential buyers in the future...won't take long for them to figure out there was a pool, and questions will come about the decommissioning...

Vermiculite is porous and more like a sponge and used in gardening.

You may want to punch some holes in it to improve drainage through it.
