Hi
I'm Joe , I have an 18' round agp. I've been using an OTO chlorine and Ph test for years and fighting alge almost every year. Thought I knew everything until I found TFP.
I ordered a TF 100 test set and am patiently awaiting its arrival.
My water is all out of wack.walk. see attached. Pool math is telling me to boost chlorine levels to between 10 and 14 but my test kit only goes as high as 8. How can I test until my new kit arrives or do I just wait?

Welcome to the forum!
While you are waiting on your test kit, add 5 ppm FC worth of liquid chlorine / plain bleach to your pool each evening with the pump running. This will replenish the FC lost each day to the sun and also inhibit any algae in the water from growing further.
I suggest you read through Pool Care Basics - Trouble Free Pool and even look at a few of our videos TFP-TV - Trouble Free Pool

Thank you. I have read through most of the topics on pool school. I forgot to mention I have a hayward sand filter and up until recently have been using pucks and algecide.
Welcome. Don’t use the pucks or algaecide, just add liquid chlorine and hang on until the test kit arrives.

Hi,

TF 100 came yesterday evening. Added 88oz of bleach according to pool math. Picked up a gallon of muratic acid at HD.
It's called "Clean Strip Green" I can't find a concentration percentage. Has anyone used this? What concentration do you use fir pool math?
Thank you
Joe H

So I got my TF 100 in the mail the other day. I added bleach as prescribed by pool math. To lower my Ph I picked up some muriatic acid at Home Depot. It's called "Fresh Strip Green" it has no percentage of acid on the label. Has anyone used this product? What percentage do you plug into pool math?

Thanks
Joe H

There’s a couple versions so would need more info. There’s a “green” one that is something like 1/2 strength and a full strength version. Check if it has any labels like “lower fumes”.

The "Green" version is about 67% strength of the non-green version.
Label for the green states use 12 oz to brighten concrete; the none green version says use 1/2 pint (8 oz) for the same task.
The actual % in either container is not known, as it is withheld as a trade secret; but the published % range is 15-40% for the regular and 10-30% for the green.
In other threads on TFP the full strength version is considered as 31.45%

With high CYA, you likely need to do a partial drain and refill or no-drain water exchange.

I wouldn't waste time and money trying to balance the water now; you'll end up dumping 50% anyway.

The Kleen Strip Green is a good bit lower concentration. I believe 20%. Folks usually avoid it, as you are paying same or more price for less concentration. If you go to the pool section at HD, they have full strength muriatic.
