Fiberglass Pool Build - Lead Times

I've been seeing that Latham won't give PBs any updates on fiberglass pools that were even ordered last year.

My manufacturer is San Juan. The manufacturers just don't know when their materials are coming is the only thing I can fathom.

I just got off the phone with the PB and he told me we are scheduled for Tuesday. The crane guy was at my house yesterday supposedly. (Wife works from home and no one knocked on our door so whatever), excavator is coming out to the site today to go over the pathway for the stone and the PB is coming out to my house tomorrow at 3PM to go over layout prior to the project start.

Overall, very excited and pleasantly surprised considering the delay notice (until 2022) we got from them three weeks ago but I guess that is just a testament to how much chaos is in the industry right. We basically got a week notice of the pool arrival and install.

I spoke to my builder today. I’m also getting a Latham pool that was ordered last August and he said he THINKS pools ordered before December are being built but after that it’s a guessing game and he also mentioned the resin shortage.

he said he’s only getting about 2 pools a month delivered from the mfg.

Good for you guys!!! I'm so glad you're getting it and things are starting up. I'm still waiting and honestly, even if I dont see my PB until next spring, I really dont care and I'm kinda bracing for it because of the instability in the industry that you mentioned. My season is over even with my PB projected start date.

Good luck with the build and tag me when you start. I'm so busy with work I lose track sometimes.

We have a contract signed early May 2021 with PB for a Latham fibreglass pool. PB has been open and honest with us re delays. Did mention that Latham had increased prices… not our problem since we already had a signed contract to avoid said price increase. Resin delays mean our FG pool is delayed indefinitely. I’m hoping spring of 2022. PB called this week to tell me Latham is now charging a delivery fee of $2500.00 CAD per pool. Again, not my problem since I have a signed contract. Just wondering if anyone else has heard this about Latham? Not sure why PB feels the need to share this with me.

They may be telling you this just in case your sales contract gets cancelled. If you are working with a builder who exclusively installs fiberglass pools they may not be able to remain a viable business if they can only deliver one or two pools a month.

I would read your contract before being so cavalier about the price increases not being your problem. There is almost certainly a clean way for them to cancel the order without you being able to do anything about it. My PB and manufacturer basically said here is the increase and if you don't want it we'll refund your deposit in full.
