This is my first year using just 12.5% liquid CL and a FAS-DPD test kit, results are great. It has stayed crystal clear since opened in early June previously was always fighting algae or cloudiness.

FC 5-6ppm (6ppm target from poolmath)
CC 0
PH 7.4
CYA 50

Pool gets ~90% full sun it will loose 3-4ppm CL during the day. OCLT it looses 0 to 0.5. Zero bather load during the day, one or two ppl at night is it.

CYA at opening was zero. Raised to 30 then 50 which significantly reduced CL loss.

Is 3-4ppm daily loss expected or should I raise CYA further?

If you area losing that much, your target should be higher so the FC does not drop below the minimum for your CYA.

Typical pool is in the 2-4ppm daily loss.

Increasing the CYA could lower your losses to the sun some. Be sure to increase your chlorine levels accordingly though.
