I tested my water today using Taylor 2006, I had been using test strips before. I am using Frog Ease Smartcholr which says to keep TC around 1. After testing the water here are my results: 5.2 FC 7.4 CC, CYA 32, TA 90, Ph 7.6/7.8, Calcium 200. There is no algae but the water is hazy. I was told to shock it with a non-chlorine shock to get rid of the CC but I am not sure if that will work. Any suggestions?

The Frog @ease system uses a form of chlorine that shows up as CCs. We’ve had at least one person here who tried the @ease for a while and decided it wasn’t worth it. I believe their water went cloudy eventually which is when they decided to stop using it. I can dig up the thread if you’re interested.

Tony,

I have a saltwater standalone spa and run my FC at about 6 or 7 ppm...

I find that I have to open the cover for half an hour or so on most sunny days to keep my CC's down..

Unlike my pool, I don't worry about CC's unless they get above 1 ppm. If they get above 1 ppm, I'll leave the cover off for several hours, which usually takes care of the problem.

When I can't get the CC's down, it usually means it is time to drain and refill.. Usually every 4 or 5 months..

Thanks,

Jim R.

If you don’t mind digging that up that would be great. I was surprised by the high numbers since I don’t add chlorine and Frog claims that TC would be 1.

Just thought I'd chime in.....I used the Frog @ease system for a while and it worked fine. It, however, was VERY expensive because I needed to replace the chlorine cartridge every one to two weeks. Switched over to Saltwater with the SmarterSpa drop in and couldn't be happier. I feel that saltwater is a lot cheaper and easier than the Frog@ease
