Great. Go as long as you can because it often warms up for a couple weeks, right after you close.

As the temps drop, so does the UV demand and the daily dose lasts longer. It'll be much less of a chore then.

We are split right down the middle here with many on both sides. Your choices are to :

1) close at half slam and add PQ
2) close at full slam and skip PQ

IMO t may help some people that close early but isn't needed for those of us who wait long enough.

There are so many different algaecides I only found one that actually says polyquot 60 by pro team. Do you have one in mind. Just as a reminder I do have does metal stains at the bottom of the pool what's actually for some reason hasn't gotten any worse this year. I used the c u l a t o r Pro I believe this worked from it getting any worse because year after year it would just get worse but this year it didn't get any worse. But should I put a metal free product in as well at closing? Your thoughts please

Excuse my ignorance but why wouldn't you take it to full slam and PQ?

The PQ fights it out with the chlorine leaving you with less of each. More FC equals less PQ so when you were specifically trying to up the PQ, it's counterproductive.

For people closing early, the PQ theoretically lasts longer than the FC would have. If you close late enough once daily demand is next to nothing, full slam should make you to when the water is fully cold.

It's a gamble either way. When I drain over the winter, I spend a few minutes to mix it with the submersible pump and top off the FC if it's getting low. I'm already out there with a pump all setup, it's almost silly not to.

That's the one. There's a couple generics also but I stay away from the comically generic stuff myself. Like, a white jug that only says 'bleach'.

Iron can be filtered out. Check the 'iron in your pool' Wiki in the left sidebar.

Copper only comes out by exchanging with copper free water.

Or you add sequesterants forever to keep them in solution. Many tire of the effort or expense of it over time and then go for the 2 options above.

Great news new dude thank you. I have a submersible on the second step of my steps to help with circulation it doesn't freeze that low so I'll keep that in and add FC as it needs it during the winter and turn it on when I do to mix it up. I am going to go to just full slam and keep adding during the winter. Thank you
