Failed Check Valve?

My friend's pool is draining from the spa back into the pool when the pump shuts off. In my experience, this is usually caused by a failed check valve. Within his plumbing, I do not see a check valve like I would expect to see, so could the issue be one of valves under the Jandy actuators?1a7844b5-8a1e-4020-880d-bb8c42723f4f.jpg

Must be below ground?

You can have them manually turn off the valve that returns to the spa (need to remove the actuator).

Looks like they have automation. If possible, it is better to set up a spillover schedule so not running all the time.

Big,

The system is NOT set up for an automated Spillover, which normally only runs once or twice a day, controlled by the automation.

The system in the pics has the Return valve offset to allow the spa water to constantly spillover into the pool when in the Pool mode.

If it worked before in this configuration, then there has to be a check valve in the spa return line.. Like Marty, I would suspect it is underground.. :(

To set up the Spillway function in the automation, you'd have to readjust the Return valve so that it is in the full Spa off position, when in the Pool mode.

Thanks,

Jim R.
