Experiences with ChemCorp liquid chlorine.

First year pool owner here...

It looked like we might be having a shortage of liquid chlorine locally. I was getting low and felt a little panicked, so I ordered some online. It was 12.5% concentration and the price was OK, so I figured I'd give it a try.

It arrived. It lists ChemCorp out of Florida as the manufacturer. I couldn't find a date of manufacture anywhere on the box or containers. When I poured some out, it was cloudy, or rather there was some cloudy sediment on the bottom. Is this normal? Today is my first day using it, so I'm not sure yet how potent/effective it is.

Up to now, all my chlorine has come from the pool store, and it's been bright yellow and clear. My experience has been limited to just this season though, so I'm not sure what I should expect.

That's a coin toss scenario. We have no idea how that chlorine was stored or packaged. Very questionable. I suppose you could test your FC before & after with your TF-100 or Taylor K-2006C test kit to see if you achieved your projected FC goal. So your local Walmart has been out of their Pool Essentials as well huh? Home Depot too?

I tested before and plan to test again in 24h. I consistently get about 2.5ppm daily loss the last few days. My thinking is if that rate jumps, then I can assume the chlorine was no good. (My logs: PoolMath Logs).

The good news is that the pool store had LC in stock a few days ago, so I grabbed some (this was before my shipment arrived). I still haven't seen any at the local Lowes or Walmart (HD is harder to get to). My impression was that this particular shortage was temporary and probably due to everybody opening their pools. However I was a little worried after reading stories from last year.
