Expansion join in decking

I just noticed this in one of the expansion joints of my pool decking (notice the uneven finish on the right side of the joint) . This is the 2nd time the deck has been poured and painted. I am guessing this isn't how its supposed to be. Not sure if its the concrete guys who messed it up or its the Sundek crew. Anyways, do you think its worth asking them to fix this somehow (may be pour some concrete in that gap and paint it)? I know, in most likelihood, no one else will notice it. In fact, I had not until today. Would you get bothered?

You can't fix that with concrete, it'll pop right out in short order. You could call them, or just go grab some grey Sikaflex from Lowe's and squirt some in there. It won't look perfect, but it'll soften the unevenness and it'll disappear from your mind soon enough. I obsess about these types of things myself, but then forget about them later, especially if I can touch them up a bit.

The fix that would require would either make it look worse, or be a complete redo of the entire section, which could also come out worse. The texture as is looks very nice, and most of the rest of the seams do as well. You don't get 100% perfect anymore, you get varying degrees of "uh, OK." You got mostly perfect.

Basically it’s just “amateur” form work by the concrete crew. There’s nothing you can do to fix it short of ripping up that entire section of deck. As Dirk mentioned, that’s likely to make everything worse. You will notice less when life gets busy, kids are playing in the pool and something else more significant in your house is in need of repair …
