Hey everyone, can you guys/gals please evaluate my results? Using a TF-100 test kit. Pool is located in Southern California (Inland Empire). Current temps are 70* high and 45* low. Pool temp is about 50*.

Seems like I’m adding a lot of acid on an almost daily basis.

Trying to get my chemicals on point.

Hey Steve and belated Welcome !! From my limited snooping on you it looks like you’ve just finished your build somewhat recently.

You will see higher acid demand for a while and it’s great that you are keeping on top of it. Trust your awesome test kit. When it tells you the PH is being less demanding, back off as needed per PoolMath. You’re doing great !!

your other #s look to be in line and I particularly like the 10 FC to give you some wiggle room as you learn. There will be less demand from the sun/UV right now so that will help a bunch too.

Recently finished my build last month. Since I know, pics will be requested. 8B9B3B2C-67B1-4186-8B0D-9CC4C7645D90.jpeg

Beautiful pool! Congrat's. Newdude's got you. You'll need a lot of acid at first. Just keep pH in the upper 7s and you're good. It might have been too soon for the salt. Who put that in? When? Not a huge deal, and it's done. Are you running the SWG? That can push pH a bit, too. It's always important to maintain your pH, but never more so than when the pool is new. Stay on top of the testing and keep your pH as stable as you can, below 8. All your other numbers look great.

Glad you found us. Stick around and learn about the best way to take care of a pool!

Don't mess with TA for now. You're adding a lot of acid and while bringing your pH down doing so you'll also bring down your TA. It will likely stabilize soon enough.

Mine started out much, much higher than yours, and I battled it down to about 100, and then had to give up. It made it the rest of the way down to within range all on its own, and has stayed there ever since. I haven't done anything to adjust TA for years.

Ha, my biggest battle with trying to bring down my TA was with Marty! (mknauss) He kept telling me to leave it alone and it'll come down on its own, and I kept ignoring him and fought with it. When I finally gave up, it did in fact come down on its own, just like he said!
