Question for you all...my pool equipment is working great. It’s 30 years old though. At what point should I be looking a updating all the pumps, filter system etc. to get the newer more energy efficient equipment? Is the cost worth the energy efficiency? How much does something like this cost? Roughly ?

Nate if your equipment is 30 years old, I think you already know the answer. ;)

Upgrading your equipment, especially your pump, will save you greatly on electricity usage if you go with a VSP. The rest, well, it’s like a domino effect, better to be in front of it, then chasing it.

Nate,

The only real money saver is the pump.. Old single speed puts consume a lot of electrical power.. But that really depends on how long you run the pump..

If the cost to run the pump is not an issue for you, then there is no reason to start changing equipment until things start to fail.

Just for reference, I run my 3 HP IntelliFlo pump 24/7 at 1200 RPM most of the time for less than $20 bucks a month...

Thanks,

Jim R.
