Hi all. What a great summer to have a pool in MI!! It is being drained and put away for winter 9/1/24. I will still swim in it til then. How vigilant do I need to be with balancing chemicals for this upcoming week? I am just thinking about safety with skin, algae, etc. Thank you.

Why change anything you have been doing for the last few months?

Well that didn’t really answer my question. Why waste chemicals, time, testing supplies if I don’t need to?

When you ask a specific question, you will get a specific answer.

How much chemicals, time, and testing supplies do you use in a week that you think you will save?

When was the last time you tested the pool and what were the test results since your PoolMath log is empty?

You know.

You got me at first and i think I get it now.

There's a week left in your season and you're asking if most of the parameters are a priority.

Maintain FC for sanitary reasons. The rest likely won't need any adjustment this week, and won't matter if they did and you skipped them.

For example if the CYA could use +10. I wouldn't add it with daily UV loss already falling for us, just to dump it and take the pool down in a week.

I might adjust the pH if it was not in the 7's. Especially if it was low.

TA, CH, and CYA don't matter for a week.

I tend to be not long-winded or wordy so sorry for the confusion in my initial post.
Yes NEWDUDE, you got it, about if parameters are priority with 1 week left. We swim in lakes and rivers, and we dont know the pH, FC etc. levels and consider it safe.

5 minutes ago:
FC 6
CYA 50
PH 7.5
TA 75

Keep your FC free and clear above min at all times.

Lakes and rivers have a bazillion gallons to disperse any ickies and yours is capped at 6000 gallons.

The rest won't matter in the short term.
