For many years, pool services, and even a contractor who resurfaced my pool, told me that my pool was 20k gals. Still, I've always had the feeling that they were only guessing, as I didn't see them take real measurements. So, this morning, I did a water test, then added 96oz of 12.5 liquid chlorine. After 30 minutes with pump on high, I again tested for FC and used the Effects of Adding function in the app to determine how much volume aligned with the increase in FC. It indicates that my pool is closer to 16k.

Since I just recently took over my pool maintenance, I have been adding muriatic acid and chlorine as recommended by the app to hit the ideal target range for a 20k pool. I imagine I've been adding too much, but how much of a difference might there be?
Might I have caused any potential issues by adding these higher amounts?

No, you have not created any issues. There is plenty of room within the acceptable ranges for those mistakes.

Continue testing after you have added chlorine and acid and see what your effect of adding actually is. Once you get a dozen data points you should be able to home in on an accurate pool volume.
