Easy touch Control System Display Showing Arrows

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the help over the years, I’ve never actually had to post before but I couldn’t find this issue in the threads.

I woke up this morning to my pool pump not running. I went out to the control system and the display is just displaying 4 arrows and nothing else. I’ve power cycled the system multiple times but no new behavior.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I think your main EasyTouch card has died, but here are a couple of things to try.

1. Push the reset button on the main panel. It is like rebooting a PC, it will not delete anything.

2. You can drop the front panel down and unplug all of the wires going into the main card, except the power plug. It is possible that something is loading the card down. With nothing but the power plug connected, check to see of the LCD is fully working. (Make sure you mark or remember where all the connections go before taking them off.

3. If still bad, you can test the low voltage from the system transformer.

I agree with Jim that the outdoor board seems bad... Have you had any storms?

Sorry, I didn't have a chance to take a look at everything until today.

1) Reset button didn't seem to do anything, the screen didn't even flicker or anything.
2) Tried disconnecting the wiring and also no noticeable effect.
3) Not positive I identified the correct lead for the low voltage transformer but it was live and had current.

No storms, just the crazy central Texas heat.

So assuming it is the board, is this something I can handle myself or should I try to find a pool repair company to do this work? Also, do things just happen or should I be worried about the sudden short in the board? The system is about 2 years old now.

Hey Edward, replacing the board is an easy job as long as you power down first and then label and/or photograph what wires go where like @Jimrahbe said. You don't have to unscrew wires from the black terminal blocks... The whole block pulls off.

I don't know what kind of pump you have but if it's an intelliflo it can run on a schedule without the easytouch. And if you don't have an indoor controller you will have to reprogram your board after replacement.

As for identifying the low voltage wires... On the six position connector the powers the board: The first two wires/positions are 12vac, then the next two are 18vac, then 24vac... so you can test that with a multimeter.

These things usually only go bad after a power surge from a storm (or a lightning strike) but it could have been a utility company surge too... What do you think @ajw22 ?
