Easy fix for leaking fitting/joint?

I'll acknowledge right off the bat the real solution to this is probably to rebuild the plumbing. That said, I'd love it there was an easier, if not permanent solution to this:

Upon starting my pool for the season I discovered a small, but significant leak in one of the joints in a fitting in the line that runs from the pump to the sand filter. The leak occurs where the PVC pipe is glued into the female side of a union. See attached photo. I've temporarily stoppped it with rescue tape (great stuff, by the way) but I don't expect that to last long.

I've had good luck on the suction side patching these leaks with 2-part epoxy putty. But I'm not sure it's going to work on the pressure side. Suggestions?

IF I have to replace the line, is is possible to do this with a single piece of flexible pipe rather than the usual rigid pipe and multiple 90s?

Fixing it with flex PVC will only set you up for future problems. That bad joint is caused by using that flex hose rather then proper schedule 40 solid PVC.

Do it once and do it right.

So, all that grey color is tape?

One thing I've done is cut about an inch off of the female end of a PVC coupler, then cut that into two semicircles. Then you can PVC glue the two pieces right next to the leaking joint. Then I use self-fusing silicone tape on the whole thing (I'm not sure if that's the same as "rescue tape").

I had some roofers throw a heavy tarp over my pool equipment and crack my plumbing around 10 years ago. The "temporary fix" has held ever since.

Thanks, I may give that a try before I rebuild. The grey is flexible PVC pipe. The "rescue tape" (self-fusing silicone tape) is clear and wrapped around the leaking joint.
