Good morning,

Wanted to reach out to group to get idea on how you’d manage water early in season.(NY)

Opened pool 1 week ago, little green but guy who opened for us, shocked , vac’d to waste and I took over.

She was clear in 2 days. SWG, but I didn’t have any salt on hand for first few days, so I was pouring in 1 gallon of 10% LC (calculated by pool math) daily to maintain my FC around 7-8.
OCLT - neg for loss

Finally got some CYA in at day 5…was only at about 20..

Readings via tftpro
ph- 7.35 ( between 7.2-7.5 on the test block)
Fc 8
Cc 0
Cya 50
TA 50 ?….solution turns blue on 5 drops, red on 6th drop
Salt 3200

My question is - now that the SWG is producing chlorine and being that usually my pH is on the high side throught season (7.8-7.9), do I just give time for everything to normalize or should I get some sodium bicarbonate in here?

Looking for pro advice :)

Thanks!

Your pH and TA are fine. Don’t poke at them with bicarb. Just test and monitor it.

Thanks.

When testing for alkalinity with TFT kit; is the green to blue change the actual value, or the additional drop to turn solution red?
Be careful on that one, it can turn red but you keep going until it doesnt get any more red. Mine usually turns red and then one more drop makes it bright red/pink.
