Trying to drain water off of the pool cover before we open the pool. There are lots of leaves, worms, etc. and I tried skimming as much as I could. However, the pump runs just for a minute or so before the leaves and worm clog it. Any suggestion on how to drain the cover off?

Some sump pumps are better then others in how the intake is shaped on the sides to not clog up on the bottom.
