Draining, algae, and sand filter

My pool got very swampy over the past 2 weeks. Have been battling what looks like mustard algae but it was a loosing battle due to high cya and Calcium. I started draining. I'm concerned about the sand filter still holding onto all the algae, what's the best plan of attack to take to ensure that I've completely got rid of any algae from the filter

How are you testing your water?

Follow this process and it will take care of the algae. Link-->SLAM Process

You filter is fine. Algae requires light to live. If you are worried about dead algae in the filter...backwash if sand, clean if cartridge and clean or backwash if DE.

After you clean/backwash, not clean filter pressure. When pressure rises 25% over clean pressure backwash/clean again.

Just follow the TFP SLAM process. The filter will get cleaned as part of it.

Since ph reading isn't reliable during s slam, are you supposed to balance ph first?
